    • How should I return the products?

      1) You can only return a blind that has not been installed

      2) You must return the blind in the original packaging. The packaging must be properly sealed and closed. The different parts that come with the blind such as screw drivers have to be placed in their original bags. Make sure that there are not any loose parts in the packaging before you return it.

If these criteria are not fulfilled, the blind is considered “sold” and no exchange or refund will be given. We strongly recommend that you use registered post, recorded delivery or another secure method of delivery, retaining the postal receipt until you have received credit for your return, as we cannot be held responsible for non-delivery of returned goods.

    • What is the most significant difference between Itzala and VELUX blackout blinds?

VELUX blackout blinds are top quality blinds that offer 100% blackout – night or day, as well as effective heat protection. VELUX blackout blinds are made from a dirt-resistant polyester with a special aluminium coating on the back, that helps retain heat in the winter and reflect solar heat in the summer. They comes in a wide range of colours with or without patterns, and you can choose between a manual or remote control operated edition. The blind runs in slim top and side channels in aluminium and can be positioned anywhere in the window. The side channels are painted black on the inside to prevent light from passing in around the edges. The VELUX blackout blinds purchased through the VELUX online shop have a three-year guarantee.

Itzala blackout blinds are quality blinds that can be offered at a lower price as they are manufactured in bulk. They offer almost complete darkness and are very easy to use. The fabric is a hardwearing, dirt-resistant combination of polyester and lightproof rubber. Itzala blinds come in three different colours. • What is the most significant difference between Itzala and VELUX venetian blinds?

Itzala and VELUX venetian blinds are easy to clean and are well suited for kitchens and bathrooms where humidity levels can be high.

VELUX venetian blinds allow you to control the amount and direction of incoming light in a room – even when the window is open. The slats have no holes, which prevents unwanted light from entering the room. You can choose from nine classic colours, and manual or remote controlled blinds. The tilting grip on the manually operated blind can be placed at preferred operation height. The VELUX venetian blind comes with a three years' guarantee.

Venetian blinds from Itzala are value blinds that allow you to adjust the amount and direction of light in a room. They are available in white and have a cordless operation system. Itzala venetian blinds purchased through the online shop have a two-year guarantee.

VELUX roller blinds are available in a manually operated and remote controlled version. VELUX roller blinds run in side channels made of natural anodized aluminium. These channels ensure smooth operation, free positioning of the blind and prevent light from passing in around the edges. VELUX manually operated roller blinds with hooks come without top and side lists and can be positioned in three different heights. The VELUX roller blind comes with a three-year guarantee.

The Itzala roller blind is a low cost value option that comes in two colours: dark blue and beige. The blind has a robust roller mechanism and a tri-positional window clip. Itzala roller blinds purchased through the online shop have a two-year guarantee.

  • Clearance sale
    • Do you offer guarantee on clearance blinds?

Yes, just like for all other VELUX products sold on this shop, we offer a three year guarantee on the products included in our clearance blind section. This guarantee does not in any way affect your statutory rights.

Should you need to return your products due to a manufacturing defect within three years of purchase, please read more about our return procedures in our FAQ section or on the guarantee and returns page.

    • How can I see whether you have any clearance blinds that will fit my window?

All blinds included in our clearance sale are end of the line blinds from VELUX. The blinds therefore come in a limited number of sizes and colours. To find out whether we have any clearance blinds left that will fit your specific window type and size, you will need to go through the steps in the configurator on the clearance blinds page.

First, you will need to indicate, whether you would like to see, if we had any blinds or insect screens left that will fit your window. After that, you will need to choose your window type and size or the height and width of your window opening in the drop-down lists (there is a link explaining how to find these pieces of information). Then we will show you the selection of clearance blinds we have that will fit your window.

If we don’t have any available clearance blinds for your specific window type and size, you can go to our blinds overview page and get an overview of the other blinds and sun screening products we offer in our shop. There you will find the brand new range of VELUX blinds sold with a 35.5% discount compared to VELUX list prices as well as the Itzala blinds range – our low cost alternative.

    • How can the blinds be so cheap - what condition are they in?

All blinds included in our clearance sale have been discontinued by VELUX and we need to make room for the new blind range and all the new colours. We therefore sell these overstocked products with a 50% discount compared to the original price while supplies last. The blinds come in a limited number of sizes, they are all in perfect condition, but for some the packaging appears to have been in stock for some time.

    • How do I find the clearance blind prices?

Prices vary depending on your window type, choice of blind, colour etc. and you will therefore need to go through the steps in the configurator on the clearance blinds page to find the available blinds and prices. However, please note that you save up to 50% compared to the original VELUX list price on all blinds included in our clearance sale.

    • What kind of blinds can I find in your clearance sale?

All blinds included in our clearance sale are end of the line blinds from VELUX. The blinds therefore come in a limited number of sizes and colours and with different operation types - and we may not be able to offer all blind types for your specific window type and size.

Among the different blind types included in our clearance sale are: roller, blackout, duo, energy and awning blinds as well as regular, double and add-on pleated blinds and also insect screens. Some blinds are available with manual operation only, some also with electrically and solar powered, remote controlled operation. Furthermore, for some blind types you can also choose between a wide and slim line version as well as white and aluminium coloured top and side lists.

  • Accessories for hard-to-reach situations and safety
    • Adaptors

If you have a rod control and would like to use this to open and close your blind we recommend that you attach an adaptor to the bottom of your blind. Please bear in mind that you will require a separate adaptor for each blind you have.

    • Opening restrictor with key

With the opening restrictor, an easy-to-fit safety catch, you can regulate the extent to which your VELUX roof window opens, which is very handy if you e.g. want to make ensure that no one accidentally fall out of the window. A special key allows you to release the window for cleaning. The window is still capable of being opened to provide ventilation, when the restrictor in place. Please note that the restrictor cannot be used on VELUX top-hung emergency escape roof windows: GPL, GPU, GHL, GHU.

    • Security lock

If you are considering enhancing the security of your home, you can purchase a window security lock. When the safety device is locked in place, it is not possible to open the sash, but the ventilation function of the window will still work. The steel security lock fits almost the entire current range of all standard VELUX roof windows, excepting top-hung windows (e.g. GPU,GPL,GHU,GHL). You can easily install the lock into the frame yourself.

    • Rod controls

If your VELUX roof window is hard to reach, you can purchase a 100-180cm telescopic rod (that allows you to open GGL and GGU centre-pivot roof windows). If this rod isn't long enough, there is an additional 100cm extension piece available for purchase.

  • Installing a blind
    • Can you help me find installation instructions?

If you are looking for specific installation instructions, you should be able to find them on the relevant product pages. You can also go to our installation page (https://www.roofblinds.co.uk/service-and-contact/installation), where you can find installation instructions for all of the products listed and sold in the e-shop. The instructions are provided in PDF format and for some products we also have installation walk-through videos.

    • How easy it is to install the blinds?

VELUX blinds are very easy to install thanks to the unique Pick&Click!® system. Under each VELUX product description you will find an easy to follow installation guide, or you can go directly to the installation page, where you will find installation instructions for all the products listed and sold in the e-shop. The instructions are provided in PDF format and some products also have installation walk-through videos.

    • What is the VELUX Pick&Click!® system?

The VELUX Pick&Click!® system is a system of pre-installed brackets, that ease installation and help you achieve a perfect fit every time. Simply choose a blind and click it into place. VELUX blinds that are Pick&Click!® compatible are blackout blinds, roller blinds, pleated blinds, and venetian blinds. Only VELUX windows offer the Pick&Click!® system.

If your window is an older model, it might not have these brackets. We always include an extra set of brackets for older windows when you order a blind. The brackets are also available to purchase as a spare part. If you wish to order these, please contact us at Itzala Customer Service. The brackets themselves are easy to install. Installation instructions are included.

    • Is there any difference between the installation of Itzala and VELUX blinds?

Yes. The Pick&Click!® system is only available on VELUX roof windows and VELUX blinds.

    • I have a non-VELUX window, can I install a VELUX blind?

No. To ensure the perfect fit VELUX blinds are made specifically for VELUX roof windows. If you have a roof window made by either FAKRO, Keylite, RoofLITE, Dakstra or Dakea, you will still be able to find Itzala blinds that will fit your window in the e-shop. If your roof window is made by another manufacturer, you will have to contact that individual manufacturer for further information.

  • Miscellaneous
    • Do you have blinds for vertical and flat roof windows?

VELUX offers blinds for VELUX flat roof windows and also for vertical add on elements for VELUX roof windows, but unfortunately we don't offer these products in our shop.

    • Do you make custom made blinds?

VELUX offers many colours and designs for the many different kinds of blinds and windows, but we do not custom make blinds.

    • How do I identify the brand and size of my window?

To identify the brand, type and size of a window already installed in your home, look at the reference on the window plate at the top of your window. The window plates differ in appearance depending on the model of your window. For an illustration and explanation of a VELUX window plate, visit our"Size Finder", where you might use our size chart to identify the code for your VELUX roof window.

Itzala blinds not only fit VELUX and FAKRO roof windows, but Keylite, Dakstra, Dakea and RoofLITE as well. However, Keylite does not list the size on the identification plate. Keylite uses a production number. You will need to measure the internal pane size and use our chart to find the correct code.

    • How do I clean my blind?

Exact cleaning procedures of course depends on the type of blind you choose. However, most VELUX blinds are made of a durable, dirt-repelling fabric that can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Cleaning instructions are included when you receive your product.

    • Do you supply samples of the blind material?

Yes, but only for VELUX blinds. Blind samples can be very helpful in the decision-making process and can be found on the cloth samples page.

    • Are your VELUX blinds genuine?

Yes, Roofblinds.co.uk trading as Altaterra Ltd. is an authorised VELUX reseller. Our VELUX blinds are genuine and delivered directly from VELUX.

    • Do you have blinds for Roto windows?

No. We provide genuine VELUX blinds for VELUX roof windows and Itzala blinds for roof windows made by VELUX, FAKRO, Keylite, RoofLITE, Dakstra and Dakea.

    • Is my window compatible with Itzala blackout budget blinds?

Itzala blackout budget blinds are compatible with VELUX old generation roof windows only. The old generation refers to roof windows produced before February 2014. Itzala blackout budget blinds are compatible with the following old generation size codes: CO2, CO4, FO6, MO4, MO6, MO8, SO6, SO8, UO4, UO8. Please note that the new generation size codes include the letter "K" (e.g: CKO4, FKO6) and are NOT compatible with Itzala blackout budget blinds.

    • What windows are your Itzala blinds compatible with?

Itzala blinds are compatible with windows made by VELUX, FAKRO, RoofLITE, Dakstra, Keylite and Dakea. The Itzala awning blind however is only compatible with VELUX roof windows.

  • Remote controlled blinds
    • When should I select electrically operated blinds?

VELUX electrically operated blinds are a perfect match for VELUX INTEGRA® electric roof windows and fit these perfectly. However, if you don't have an electrically operated window, but would like to install an electrically operated blind, you simply need to add a KUX 110 control system to your order as well. As the blind is remote controlled, this kind of blind is great for windows that are out of reach or where you expect to adjust the incoming light often.

Please note that the electrical blind does not come with a remote control of its own. To control the blind, you either use the same remote that you also use for your VELUX Integra window or the remote, that is included in the KUX 110 control system.

    • When should I select solar powered blinds?

VELUX solar powered blinds are a perfect match for VELUX manually operated roof windows and for VELUX INTEGRA® solar powered roof windows. As the blind comes with a remote control and has a battery that is charged by the sun, it is also ideal for windows that are hard to reach or where you want to adjust the incoming light often. No wiring needed.

    • What do I have to take into consideration when thinking of purchasing a non-manual VELUX blind?

When thinking about purchasing a non-manual blind, there are a number of factors you may want to consider.

      1. Only genuine VELUX blinds are available with remote control operation. All Itzala blinds are manually operated.

      2. VELUX blinds are also available in an electrically operated or solar operated version. Both are very practical as they allow you to adjust the blinds placement with ease, putting complete daylight control right at your fingertips. Remote control blinds are highly recommended for windows that are out-of-reach, in an extension or high up in a loft, and for windows where you expect to adjust the position of the blind often.

Electrically operated blinds are only suitable for VELUX INTEGRA® electric roof windows. Solar powered blinds fit all manually operated VELUX roof windows and also all solar powered VELUX INTEGRA® roof windows.

Both types of blinds are remote controlled, but can, apart from the tilting feature on the electrically operated VELUX venetian blind, also be manually operated. The remote control for the electrically operated blind is battery powered. The solar powered blind is powered by an energy-saving, solar-rechargable battery, which is good for up to 600 operations even if there is no sun for recharging. Electrically operated blinds are also available with io-homecontrol® for intelligent features, such as scheduling.

      3. Non manual blinds are available in multiple versions. Blackout blinds and Roller blinds are available in electrically operated or solar powered versions. Venetian blinds only come in manually operated and electrically operated versions. Awning blinds are available in manually operated or solar powered versions. Pleated blinds are only available in a manually operated version. Both blinds are remote controlled, but can, apart from the tilting feature on the electrically operated VELUX venetian blind, also be manually operated.

Please note that a ZOZ 228 installation kit is required for the installation of solar and electric operated awning blinds, for VELUX INTEGRA® windows produced before May 2000.

If you have another blind installed, you're free to roll it up and down and open and close your window as you like. If your window and/or blind is manually operated, the insect screen has to be rolled up when opening or closing the window.

If you have an open centre-pivot window, we recommend that you lock the window in the open or closed position with the barrel bolts to avoid damage to the window or to insect screen.

    • Can I combine the roller and awning blind with other VELUX blinds?

    • Is a blackout blind the right solution for my room and needs?

Blackout blinds are made of a lightproof fabric that effectively blocks out incoming light. They can help to ensure a good night's sleep or a restful nap during the day and are recommended for bedrooms and children's rooms. They are also perfect for home cinemas and guest rooms.

    • Is a duo blackout blind the right solution for my room and needs?

A VELUX duo blackout blind is a combination of the classic VELUX blackout blind and a pleated blind - the pleated blind being attached to the bottom of the blackout blind. The duo blackout blind makes it easy for you to block out as much of the light as you want with the blackout blind; and then use the semi-transparent pleated blind to diffuse the rest of the light that enters the room. The VELUX duo blackout blind is an ideal solution for any room where you need the flexibility of a blackout combined with the more subdued, softer light of the pleated blind, i.e. in rooms where your needs may vary depending on the hour of the day, e.g. bedrooms, kids, living and TV rooms. It is also very well suited for guest rooms and home offices.

    • What do I have to take into consideration when thinking of purchasing a VELUX insect screen?

The main purpose of the VELUX insect screen is to keep all unwanted visitors such as flies and insects at bay while allowing you to enjoy fresh air from an open roof window. VELUX insect screens cover the whole window area and are made of a durable transparent net fabric that won't obstruct your view. As a result, there are two things to be aware of when choosing a VELUX insect screen.

      1. You will need an additional blind if you want to control the amount of daylight coming in to your room. VELUX insect screens can easily be combined with a VELUX blind for daylight regulation.

      2. The VELUX insect screen is installed onto the interior wall, not directly onto the window. When ordering an insect screen, measure the width of the window opening on the interior wall to find the correct size insect screen. Insect screens are available in various widths with the following three heights: 1600 mm, 2000 mm and 2400 mm. The height, but not the width, is adjustable. If you have a window with vertical elements, you will need two insect screens and an additional installation kit. Please note: In most cases you will need to cut the insect screen to match the size of your window opening.
